Burberry Prorsum at London Fashion Week

The talented, and I have to say handsome, Christopher Bailey has continued to impress me more and more each season. I love how this collection walks the line between classically chic and youthful while never making me think its trying too hard to be one or the other.

I was instantly drawn in by the rich, earthy colors. They ranged from the most organic olives and tans to the richest berries and plums to icy cool greys with the rouge pop of cobalt and mustard.

Most of the looks consisted of one color (in varying tones) from head to toe but interest was created with some of the most lavish textures that I've ever seen. I was completely taken with the mix of untamed furs, rich velvets and ruched skirts and dresses. I wanted to touch everything!!

PS. To all you girls that invested in over the knee boots last fall.... they're here for another season!

Lazy Sunday Recommended Reading...

Anyone who has been to my house knows that I am a bit of a collector of style/ fashion books and my recent favorite is "I Love Your Style" by Amanda Brooks.

Brooks, a fashion world mainstay, penned a lovely guide to cultivating a personal style. Don't be put off, this is neither a manual of rigorous 'do's' and 'don'ts', nor a guide to dressing like Brooks herself. This book is full of words of encouragement and light-handed guidance from someone who feels like the reader's style savvy big sister. It is also overflowing with amazing images of fashionable icons from Jane Birkin to Kate Moss, from Brigitte Bardot to Chloe Sevigny. Brooks not only encourages her reader to experiment with fashion but share in her deep love of it.

Pick it up and get lost for a bit...

FW f/w 10/11 part 6..

3.1 Philip Lim is the show that I've been waiting for all week and I can honestly say it lived up to my expectations....

The collection was peppered with structured peices juxtaposed with softer, equally glamorous ones...

The perfect example was this sleek suspendered pencil skirt coupled with an almost slouchy sequined top. It feels like Jerry Hall at Studio 54 crossed with a Dior-clad 50's starlet.

Do I actually have to explain why I adore this jacket? And get a look at those shoes! They came down the runway with quite a few of the looks and, for me, they are the stand-out footwear of the season...

The contrast in elements continues with this etherial dress shown under a very unique little leather vest.

Thouroughly modern and remarkably classic...

I think there's a trend about to happen with these metallic blazers... I swooned over a very similar look shown a few days ago by Erin Featherston.

This icy grey is so lovely.... and of course the bag :)

FW f/w 10/11 part 5

Things at Marc by Marc Jacobs had a very 90's feel this season, at least in my opinion. I saw something in the looks that was distinctively grunge flavored (a look that Jacobs himself brought to the fashion forefront) along side military jackets and army surplus accessories. My standouts are the two-tone denim dress and the men's look that was so brit-pop that I'm reaching for a Blur album as we speak...

FW f/w 10/11 part 4..

It may be a tad early to say for sure but I can say with some confidence that Erin Featherston may be my favorite show of Fashion Week!

Featherston stepped a bit outside of her box with this collection and I love her for it :)
For those who aren't familiar, her look is usually whimsical and very feminine. She always produces frothy, frilly party dresses that make women look like high-fashion fairy princesses. I've always loved Featherston's strong aesthetic but it was never my personal taste seeing as I'm not much of a girlie girl when it comes to my clothes.

But these dresses really did it for me. I adored the clean, boho silhouette in that cheerful tangerine as well as the super fun metallic mini...

... but this one really rocked my world with it effortless sexiness. The flattering cut, the sheer patterned overlay, the hint of shimmer.... where do I begin?

If there is one thing to know about me it is that I LOVE blazers... and these really surprised me. They're so rocker chic in cool metallics with slim lapels and I particularly love the printed secretary blouse under the gold jacket.....

I can't write about this show without touching on the hair. I love the humorous touch of having all the models sporting heavy bangs, which is of course, the signature look of Erin Featherston herself (and sited influence for the collection Nico). As a fellow wearer of a strong fringe, I have to say I love it !
