Grab the Ice Skates Kids...

....Cause hell has frozen over!
I can't believe I'm about to not only say this but put it out into the blogosphere where it can never be erased..
I'm kind of digging Kristen Stewart lately. Not the bumbling, the nail biting, and the saying of nonsensical things but the hair and the outfits. I love the new chestnut brown, shoulder length layers that last year's jet black mullet has grown into and I love that (most of the time) someone has the good sense to dress her in edgy young designers and show off the legs! love it!

Fashion Fatigue..

Most of the time, I enjoy nothing more than an afternoon of retail therapy, but yesterday, while partaking in a ritual mother-daughter shopping trip, I realized I was becoming sick.... sick and tired of seeing the same shit in every store!
I feel like I've grown so bored with seeing the same damn thing in every store. I, of course, realize that unlike a lot of style bloggers, I don't work directly in fashion, don't live in NY or LA, and don't frequently travel to far flung locales and this reality limits my options a tad. I also understand that the mall is known for being a haven for all things demographic driven and marketed to the masses but I still feel like every store need not have the same stuff. Forever 21 looks like Charlotte Russe, Loft looks like J Crew, NY and Co. looks like Express... I know these stores target the same demographics but come on!! They have all the same stuff! Must the clothes be redundant?
But all was not lost.... cute (and not mind numbingly predictable) items were scored at H&M and JCPenny.
I suppose all this means is that sometimes you have to search a little harder for something worth adding to an already ridiculously full wardrobe...

CFDA Awards

Monday night at Lincoln Center, The Council of Fashion Designers of America handed out their annual awards to fashion's best. While the winners are an inspiring lot, including Marc Jacobs who nabbed Womenswear Designer of the Year (again), I was more interested in what the attendees were wearing.

A few of my favorites....

Supermodel Jessica Stam looked incredibly cool in a black strapless dress that appears, from what I can see in the pics, to be sheer below the hip. I'm in love with her jewelry as well, there is nothing more glamorous and irreverent than a huge tangle of chains...

I love Whitney Port and while I may not always dig her girly, frilly meets downtown style, I think she looks like a disco queen and thats always good with me..

When did this happen? When did Dakota Fanning become a bitchin' fashionista? I love all the looks I've seen her in this past year while promoting The Runaways and The Twilight flicks and this white frock was no exception.. very fun and somehow still age appropriate...

While Gwyneth (on the arm of Desginer and CFDA honoree Micheal Kors) may not be my favorite actress, I'm aways stunned by how sharp she looks. She almost always wears a solid color with some interesting detail, like that cool diagonal one-shoulder, and always shows just enough of that amazing long, lean figure... but listening to that much Coldplay can't be good for a person..

Girl Crush

There is, and will probably always be, a true lack of genuinely talented and stunningly gorgeous people. I think Florence Welch is one of those rarest of creatures..

Not only has Florence and the Machine become one of my favorite bands over the past year but I can't stop admiring the front woman's eclectic style both on and off stage...
